Mommy Summer Essentials

Happy first day of Summer! Now that summer is officially here (and so is the heat), I have been making a running list of all the things I am going to need in my home and beach bag this summer. This summer is definitely all about keeping hydrated and protecting myself from the sun. I know these are things that I should always be doing every summer, but now that I am pregnant, I must keep much better care of myself especially when out in the sun this summer. My skin is not the easiest to tan, it takes me about all summer if I religiously go outside everyday for a few hours, and I never wore sunscreen with an SPF over 15. But I have accepted the fact that I have fair skin and will make sure I am careful in the sun. I found this great tinted moisturizer from Nars that has SPF AND makes it look like I have bronzer on. But to give myself more of a glow, I do apply a light layer of bronzer.

I also need to make sure I moisturize my stomach! For the past two days my skin on my stomach has become so itchy, which means my skin is starting to stretch! ahhh! The bump is under way. I was looking around and found some organic brand that I wanted to try. I did plan on turning my diet and my baby's diet to organic. (Yes, living in California for 4 years has finally rubbed off on me) So I figured why not try other organic products besides food. I will try anything and everything to make sure I do not get stretch marks from my growing tummy.

And I cannot forget to make sure my toes are nice and bright with this Summer's colors because I will be wearing flip flops all summer since they are the only shoes that are comfortable right now. I think I'm going to try "Sunday Funday" by Essie first!

I cannot wait to start making plans for this summer especially since it's the last one my husband and I will have before we become parents. ekk!

Crave or Save: Maternity Jeans

I have not been able to fit into my jeans since about week 8 of this pregnancy. I love low rise cut, but recently have been wearing a higher rise (the reason why I can't wear any). The last pair I was able to wear (but unbuttoned) were my Rock & Republic jeans (which they don't even make anymore!) They have a lower priced line at Kohl's now, however the fit isn't the same. (similar here)

I haven't actually went out to buy a pair yet, (I was waiting until I started to get more of a bump) but I have been exploring my options. I am a designer jean customer thanks to working at Bloomingdales, and I don't like the fit of any other jean. These Citizens of Humanity maternity jeans are in one of their classic boot cut fits. I absolutely love the way their boot cut look on me and they way they fit, so I have the same expectations for the maternity version. They are a bit pricey for a pair of jeans that I would only be wearing a few months, but I know the quality is there.

If you don't think that buying designer jeans is something that is reasonable to do during your pregnancy, there are plenty of opinions out there. I found these full panel jeans from Gap, that have a similar style to the Citizens pair. Although, the fit is going to be different (I haven't tried on Gap jeans in years, so I'm not sure of the fit) but I think this pair is a perfect alternative, and it doesn't break the bank.

Happy shopping! xo

Happy Father's Day!!

I know that I don't talk to my dad that much since I moved to California. But when we do get the chance to talk to each other, we just pick up where we left off. I know our relationship isn't as close as it used to be, but living on different coasts/time zones doesn't help. I remember when I was little I definitely was a daddy's girl. I think it is so precious how a little girl looks up to her father so much and that he is the first man any little girl truly loves.

The second love of my life as a little girl was my Grandfather William or as I used to call him "Poka" because I couldn't pronounce Grandpa and I guess it just suck because that is what all the grandkids called him. Him and and Grandma were divorced, but he always came over everyday to help around the house and to visit with us kids. I remember going out the garage where he was working and playing country music on the radio, and all I wanted to do was help out. My Poka died August 31,2001, and I still miss him everyday.

The third love was my Grandfather James, he is the reason why I am obsessed with mashed potatoes (he made the BEST and he would just make a pot and I would sit there and eat the whole thing) and football. On Sundays, when we would go to visit Grandma and Grandpa, he would be sitting on the couch watching the Sunday games and he would NOT let us change the channel. Being young I didn't understand why he was so serious about that, but after he forced me to sit and watch and learn the game with him, I totally get why the channel was not allowed to be changed. He died February 7,2012, I was very lucky for him to be able to meet my husband when we visited him in the hospital when we were in NY doing wedding planning (our wedding was Sept. 2012). It meant the world to me that they were able to meet.

I cannot wait until Eric gets to hold our child for the first time, and I cannot wait until my father gets to hold his first grandchild for the first time. It takes days like father's day to realize how important a father, or grandfather really are in a child's life. And I cannot wait for my child to make memories with his/her father and grandfathers.

Happy Father's Day!! xoxo

13 Weeks

Yay! This is my last week of my first trimester! I can't believe it! I had my doctor's appointment yesterday and baby's heartbeat is strong and ultrasound results came back a-Okay. Even though my bump is still small, I've noticed the difference. (but I hate to part with my belly ring soon.. grr) Now I just can't wait until our next ultrasound so we can find out the sex of the baby!!!

Fun facts about baby:

baby is forming vocal cords and teeth!
already forming teeny tiny fingerprints
intestines are moving from the umbicial cord to baby's tummy
constantly moving around (even though I can't feel it yet)

Not so fun facts about mommy:

still feeling nausea
always tired
craving salty foods and carbs
happy when I don't have a headache (which is never)

Crave or Save: Diaper Bags

I felt as if I should start bringing in some of the "fashion" aspect to this blog. I thought a good way to start tying in the subject, which I base my whole career off of, would be showing items that are to die for, which are those items that maybe mommy shouldn't be spending on herself anymore, and those items that aren't too pricey.

I started looking for baby supplies and first thing I think of? Man, I want a really nice diaper bag! Hence, I found that my main man Marc Jacobs would not fail me now since I really can't be buying a new purse anytime soon. This diaper bag is a must have! I just love the print, the size, and comes with a matching changing pad! (I'm sold!!)
Now, I realize not every mom can afford to spend this amount on a diaper bag so I hunted to find something like it that was more affordable. I couldn't find a bag that had a similar print, so I looked for one that had an abstract print here.
